Juniper berry is a natural herb locally known as Hawber or Hauber. Its shape is like a round berry and color is dark red or maroon. Common names are Hauber or Hawber. Botanical name is Juniperus Communis. Main constituents are volatile oil, resin, sugar, gum, water, lignin, wax and saline. They have a piney, refreshing aroma reminiscent of gin. It has good oil contents and is used in producing essential oils, fragrance i.e. perfumes and colognes. Juniper berries are used for culinary purpose, in treating infections and reduce cough and cold.
